Get in the HOUSE Before the Street Light Come On

I grew up “country”. Not the rural part of a city. I mean the idiosyncrasy that is—COUNTRY. And I love it. What I love most is that you can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl. Now that I have a child of my own, lately I hear that country drawl just leap out of me. Sayings like, “Stop that crying before I give you something to cry about.” You know what I mean.
When I was a child, we went outside to play. Swing on swing sets, hang from monkey bars, go dizzy on Merry-Go-Rounds and play red-light, green-light. But when that STREET LIGHT started flickering we played a game called “run-for-your-life and pray you make it to the porch before the street light came on”.
Heaven forbid, if me and my brother got a little too carried away. If we lost track of time; my mother would send my little sisters to come out and get us. My sisters would get about 30 feet from where we were playing and yell, “Mama said get in this house right now!!” Oh the embarrassment. But, we should have been keeping watch. We should have noticed that it was starting to get dark outside. We were just having too much fun.
A lot of the people I love and care about are having so much fun. They are not noticing how dark the world around them is becoming. Well, God has sent your little sister to tell you to, “get in the house before the street lights come on”. Before it’s too late, get in the House.

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
Matthew 25:13
